Don’t slow me down

Don’t slow me down. Whatever happens, I will keep going, but what is the universe trying to tell me?

So last week was a mess. It seemed like nothing was going as planned and I constantly had to adapt plans. By the grace of God, I was still able to go to work on Friday despite the lack of a babysitter and power at my house and at the wellness center. I debated, am I really supposed to work or should I just go home? Then this voice said, you’ve come this far, why would you stop now? So true! Why would I stop when I was accomplishing what needed to be done and I really love to go to work?

Then Saturday evening I was rushing up the stairs and slipped. I heard my left foot get a great chiropractic adjustment. Nothing was broken, but it has still forced me to slow down. It hasn’t kept me down, but it has slowed me down.

In this period of not as much activity, I realize that I really am constantly in motion. It feels very odd to just sit. Why is that so very hard? It should be easy to relax. The bible even says to rest on the seventh day. It’s just become a habit to keep going to stay on top of things. There must be a fear of falling behind and getting overwhelmed with all that needs to be done. Therefore, I just keep going and make use of every opportunity to get something done and now this has become my habit. Ah, but to relax and enjoy my surroundings would give me more energy resulting in a much happier me. The less stressed and tired I am, the less likely I will forget things, trip, slip, or fall. Overall, I’ll be safer if I do less or at least take my time.

My body is my temple that God created for me to live in. I must take good care of my temple. Honor it and give it the rest that it needs. I think when an obstacle blocks me from getting things done, that is when the universe is reminding me to lighten my load, go easy on myself, and enjoy the present moment. It’s all about being present in this very moment. Here I am. Resting and loving the sounds around me. I can find peace in this moment.

Go with what feels right and doesn’t wear you out.

Voyage to HEAL Weekly Task

Stretch: Since I hurt my foot, let’s go ahead and stretch our feet. In standing roll your foot side to side then on the toes and onto the heels. Here is a wonderful video to stretch the feet. Hold on to a support as needed or do this in sitting.

Exercise: Activate your core and rise up on your toes. Hold for 10 seconds and come back down. Repeat this 10 times. Try doing both feet at the same time and then just one foot at a time.

Habitual Change: Do you sit on the same foot all the time? I know I do. Try to switch sides or sit with both feet out straight rather than crossed.

Perspective enlightenment: I can find peace in this moment.

Journaling option: What would a balanced day look like for you?
