Catching up on slowing down

posted in: Weekly blog 0

Life is busy. Eventually, things slow down. During this time, it is important to take the opportunity to slow down, give yourself permission to rest, and reset for the next time life gets really busy. Quieter times are the perfect opportunity to learn new patterns so when life is really busy, it doesn’t feel like chaos.

This brings us to the breath. Breathing is the number one way that I reset my nervous system, boost my immune system, and set a new pattern to slow down and not rush around even in the chaotic periods. I feel like my life has been a series of lessons teaching me to slow down, not feel like decisions have to be made right away, and not forcing myself to get everything done. When I stop to breathe, the world spins much more slowly.

At the last sacred circle, Diana Rankin read a message to me from her book The Master’s Book of Answers by Philip. The quote said, “If you blink your eyes while staring at a fan, the spinning blades appear to be still. Which is the reality and which is the illusion- the movement or the stillness?” This perplexed me until I realized that neither is an illusion, it is just how we see our reality. So in chaos, there can be stillness and in stillness, there can be chaos. They are intermixed and we choose which one is our reality.

So, for this week, stop and breathe. Never force anything. Just breathe. Reclaim your power in creating your reality. If you need to rest, rest. Listen to your body, not your to-do list.

I love Jonny Diaz’s song “Breathe”. He emphasizes the ability to breathe through the chaos. It’s beautiful.
