Satisfied Clients Say ...
"Jocelyn is not just an occupational therapist and a dear friend to me, she is a true healer in the universe. She has gifted me with the ability to go inside and create a bond between emotion and physical reality. As scientific literature suggests, as emotional tension evolves it is stored in many physical forms of pain in the body. Jocelyn has allowed me to really ask myself questions and discover the answers concerning manifested grief within my body. Strangely enough, I have even been able to associate levels of color as the emotions are released! That certainly transcends any “spa massage” I have ever experienced :)
As a yoga teacher, we are taught break our mind free of attachment to the body, which is truly a very difficult process, especially when there is chronic pain involved. In each of my treatments, I feel that my journey to that level of the mind is restored because the presence of pain in my body is relinquished. I am not only most thankful to her for each enlightened experience, I appreciate that she allows me to be myself and helps me become the person I want to be.
True to the moniker she has chosen for her business, Jocelyn leaves an sunshine filled energetic imprint on the body that is unforgettable.

What is Myofascial Release?
Myofascial Release (MFR) is a whole body approach to healing. It is a very effective hands-on technique that provides sustained pressure into fascial restrictions allowing the body time to adjust to the change. MFR is a hands-on communication with the body to gently and naturally release the fascial restrictions permanently via changing the tissue memory. Myofascial release is comprised of three interwoven techniques including deep tissue release, rebounding and unwinding.
^ topWhat is Fascia?
The fascial system is the superglue of your body located in every cell, organ, bone, nerve, and muscle. Your skeletal system provides shape to your body while your muscles keep the bones aligned, but it is your fascial system that binds the body together. It is a three dimensional web throughout our body connecting us from head to toe supporting, stabilizing, and cushioning our organs.
^ topWhat are Fascial Restrictions?
Through physical and psychological trauma, repetitive motions of everyday activities, and the strengthening of compensatory muscles, fascia becomes thickened and shortened loosing its fluidity and elasticity creating fascial restrictions. This is a protective response to keep the body safe from harm, but prolonged guarding alters the body’s natural alignment causing pain and dysfunction. Fascial restrictions have the capability of placing 2,000 pounds of pressure per square inch on a restricted area. Thus, it cannot be forced to change, but requires at least 2-5 minutes to alter the memory and begin to elongate. As the saying goes, old habits are hard to break, so is the fascial tissue memory. Therefore, the stretches and releases are given ample time to adapt to the change without recoiling to their original state. MFR for athletes and horseback riders evokes a permanent improvement in an athlete’s performance and rider’s efficiency to communicate with their horse through their body language.
^ topWhat is a deep tissue release, rebounding and unwinding?
During a deep tissue release, you will be placed in positions that will allow your body to assist with the releases as the therapist calmly provides just enough pressure to soften and stretch the are being addressed. This prevents the body from perceiving an attack and increasing the tension. A treatment may also incorporate the use of a gentle rocking motion referred to as rebounding. This movement instills a temporary state of confusion in which the body lets go of its holding patterns. MFR is most unique in the facilitation of a natural form of stretching know as unwinding. Unwinding allows the body to freely move into positions which untangle the three dimensional fascial restrictions as the therapist provides support to decrease the effects of gravity and keep you safe.
^ topWhat should I expect during a treatment?
An MFR treatment differs from a standard massage as you play an active role in allowing you body to release the physical and psychological fascial restrictions. Your first treatment will begin with a thorough review of your medical history, present symptoms, and body mechanics/ ergonomic recommendations. Then your MFR therapist will guide you through an evaluation of your body’s alignment educating you to see and feel how your fascial system is compromised. This will be important in completing your self-treatment program at home and enhancing your inner awareness. The information is gathered to create the optimal plan of care for fast, long lasting results.
Once the initial evaluation process is completed, you will receive over an hour of hands on treatment comprised of deep tissue release, rebounding and unwinding. Guided meditation may also be utilized during your treatment if deemed necessary. Treatments can range from 1-3 hours or 30 minutes for group events or wellness parties.
Your treatment will end with a custom designed self-treatment program incorporating gentle, prolonged stretches to maintain a neutral pelvis and spine. These stretches and techniques become a way of life much like exercising and eating. Adding quiet stretching time to gather your thoughts and give your body the escape it needs from everyday fascial restrictions is the link to achieving optimal health.
^ topHow should I prepare for my treatment?
It is recommended that you wear a comfortable pair of shorts and a sports bra for women. Please do not apply lotion to your body the day of the treatment as this will alter the ability to sink deep into the fascial system. It is recommended that you drink plenty of fluids and eat lightly the day of the treatment as the lymphatic and vascular system are positively affected by a myofascial release treatment. Also, it is recommended that you avoid alcohol and heavy exercise the day of your treatment.
