Myofascial release (MFR) has become a way of life for me. Linking the physical with the psychological detriments in treatment opened up a whole new avenue of healing potential for me. I have been an occupational therapist for over ten years and trained in several techniques for pain management and neuromuscular re-education including the use of electrical modalities and multiple manual therapy techniques. In my years of practicing, Myofascial Release stands out as the missing link to therapy.

MFR enlightened me to truly sense what my body needed to self heal through MFR self-treatment and the guidance of skilled healthcare professionals. As my fascial restrictions are untangled and my holding patterns are reset, I find that I have more strength, energy, and confidence in all the things I love to do. I feel a sense of calmness that allows me to think clearly and evaluate situations and clients more holistically and efficiently. My enthusiasm for life and all it's challenges expands each day.

My journey as a horse back rider began when I was 11 years old riding my friend's horses. Four years ago I purchased my first horse who I loving call my childhood dream come true, Speckles. I never imagined how much a horse could teach me or other people. I have had the joy to work closely with Helge Buflod, a very talented Natural Horsemanship trainer, who emphasizes listening to your horse and communicating clearly, effectively with as little effort as possible. As I continue my journey into the horse word, I have discovered the profound impact we have on our horses. The frame of mind that we bring with us to the barn and our physical alignment effect the way our horse moves and responds to our commands. Through the readings of Sally Swift, Peggy Brown, Linda Benedik, and Veronica Wirth to name a few, I have come to realize the importance of taking care of myself so I can ride Balanced, Fit, Flexible. Myofascial release is once again the missing link to achieving a perfect carriage with your horse.

I have been practicing Yoga for 5 years and I recently completed my 200hr certification with Yoga Alliance. I have been teaching since January 2011. I live and work locally. After several years of back pain my chiropractor suggested Yoga to help with stiffness. I fell in love after my first class and as time went on I noticed my back pain starting to melt away. Yoga brings balance to the Mind and Body connection, while increasing strength, muscle tone, and flexibility. I have lived in Waynesville for 7 years and are very excited to share this beautiful feeling called Yoga with all my friends and neighbors.

My passion is yoga! It has been an important part of my life since 1997 when Patricia Schneider and Andrew Junker of Yellow Springs became my teachers. In their soft and gentle way they took me on a yogic journey of personal healing which inspired in me a passion for yoga and a need to share that passion with others. Since then I have taught gentle beginner yoga to adults and led hundreds of middle school students through poses to help them become more balanced and less stressed. My goals are to help my students find peace and balance in their lives as they become more aware and respectful of their own bodies.

I graduated from The Ohio State University and taught science and health to middle school students in Wilmington, Ohio. I am a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance, training with Joseph and Lillian LePage with Integrative Yoga Therapy, as well as attending numerous workshops with yoga teachers such as Judith Lasater, Erich Schiffmann, Angela Farmer and Victor van Kooten. I also offer wellness coaching to women in transition and kids.

Courtney had her first experience with yoga ten years ago when a friend gave her Brian Kest's Power yoga video. Over the next three years, she practiced off and on until a yoga instructor came to the small northern Canadian community of Cold Lake where she was working as a reporter. This gave her the opportunity to see the advantages of working with a live teacher who could help to deepen her practice.

While working as a personal trainer in Ottawa, she noticed her aggressive weight lifting routine was having adverse affects on her body and decided to turn her focus back to yoga as a healing tool. To pay for classes at the Orleans Yoga Shala, Courtney worked the front desk and helped to organize yoga workshops and teacher trainings. Working at the shala gave Courtney the opportunity to learn more about the spiritual benefits of yoga and learned it helped more than just the physical body. This experience truly excited her and mobilized her to participate in David Swenson's 40 hour Ashtanga teacher training so she could have the knowledge and confidence to spread the benefits of yoga to others.

Courtney has been teaching yoga to others for over three years now and has earned her 300 hour yoga teacher training certification with World Peace Yoga and has received her Reiki level II atunement. She feels there is no limit to what you can learn about yoga and that every day, the practice will reveal new things as long as you keep searching.

Helping women reach their weight loss, lifestyle, fertility and reproductive health goals is not only my passion, but has also become my own personal way of life. Like many of you, I spent years trying to discover my own path to healing and better well-being through various diets. While those diets helped me accomplish some of my goals, none of them were able to holistically target my specific Endometriosis, fertility and weight loss needs. It was then that I found the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) and my way of fulfilling my life long dream to help others. While at IIN, we were taught that bio-individuality is key...each person is unique and therefore their nutritional needs are as well (one person's food may be another person's poison.) I am excited to bring this approach into my programs and look forward to helping you turn your dreams and hopes into reality.

I have always had a passion for physical fitness and whole body wellness. Furthermore, I have always enjoyed challenging myself both mentally and physically; completing several marathons and triathlons. However, it was not until my daughter became competitive in hunter & jumper competitions that I saw a great need for the equestrian athletes to also gain strength, balance, and flexibility. Consequently, I now focus on using interval training, ground work, and other tools such as massage and myofascial release to help improve their health and overall fitness.

I started practicing yoga regularly when I was pregnant with my first son in 2005. I immediately felt the physical benefits relieving pregnancy discomforts, but also felt a deeper connection to my baby through yoga. I continued my practice through my next pregnancy with my daughter and it has been a part of my daily life ever since. I am just finishing a 300 hour Yoga Teacher Training registered through the Yoga Alliance. As a competitive equestrian, I have found yoga has improved my balance and core strength while also providing me a means of focus and connection with my horse. Beyond the saddle and the mat, I enjoy running, skiing, hiking, traveling and spending time with my family.
